I've completed my
HER2+ breast cancer therapy
Feeling uncertain when treatment is over
Many women experience mixed feelings when their treatment has ended. Feelings of relief can unexpectedly be accompanied by concerns and anxiety about the future. No matter how positive you are, it's only natural for questions such as "What if it comes back?" to surface.
What you can do
- Take time out to feel proud of your achievement in completing therapy. It's a milestone to mark by sharing the news with friends and family, rewarding yourself with a special treat, or simply savoring the fact that you have some free time for your life beyond breast cancer treatment
- Find practical things that can help you move forward. Realize you don't need to be defined by your breast cancer treatment anymore or that you can't control everything. Try to enjoy living in the moment and be sure to stay connected to friends and family because when you are connected to others there is less time to feel afraid and isolated
